Glenn’s home in Fallbrook is a big one. Over 4,300 square feet, four bedrooms, four bathrooms, all on one level. It’s a beautiful layout, but the walls, ceilings, and wood cabinetry throughout had that dated, dark, early-2000s look: heavy wood tones in the living room built-ins, a media niche, the kitchen and bathroom cabinets, and an olive-green primary bathroom. Glenn didn’t want to change the layout or remodel anything. He just wanted the whole house to feel lighter, cleaner, and more like today.
BeforeAfterWe started with the walls, ceilings, crown molding, and baseboards throughout the home, plus every interior door and its trim. Then came the bigger job: the cabinets. We took the hallway cabinets, the guest bathroom vanities, the primary bathroom cabinetry, and the pantry trim down to bare wood, filled and sanded every nail hole and crack, and sprayed them in Sherwin-Williams Gallery Series, the same paint that comes with a lifetime warranty.
The doors and drawers were pulled, labeled, and finished separately in a controlled shop space, then brought back and reinstalled with new soft-close bumpers so they open and close quietly. We also patched and retextured the drywall above the fireplace, which had some damage that needed attention before we could paint over it.
The whole job took about two weeks, start to finish, and the difference is the kind you notice the second you walk in. What used to feel heavy and closed-in now feels open and current. Same house, same layout, completely different feeling.
